Fund Assets Down 0.3% in Week

Money market mutual fund assets dipped 0.3%, to $628.22 billion, in the week that ended Dec. 28, the Investment Company Institute reported.

The decline, from $630.39 billion the previous week, was concentrated in money funds for retail investors. Balances of these funds fell by $3.59 billion, to $443.31 billion. That includes $351.49 billion in taxable funds and $91.82 billion in tax-exempt funds.

On the institutional side, assets rose $1.42 billion to $184.91 billion. Taxable funds held $161.42 billion; the remaining $23.49 billion was in tax-exempt funds.
