Funding Circle adds new compliance chief from Silicon Valley Bank

Funding Circle, an online small-business lender based in London, announced Thursday that it has added two new executives to its U.S. operations.

Joanna Karger is the firm’s new U.S. head of capital markets. She has more than 30 years of experience working in capital markets, and most recently served as an executive vice president at Renew Financial, according to Funding Circle.

Karger succeeds Albert Periu, who left the privately held company earlier this year and is the co-founder of a startup called Neptune Financial.

Meanwhile, Richard Stephenson joined Funding Circle as the company’s new U.S. chief compliance officer. He most recently served as chief compliance officer of the $45.8 billion-asset Silicon Valley Bank in Santa Clara, Calif.
