Green Dot to Reload New Wal-Mart Card

Green Dot Corp., a Monrovia, Calif., marketer of prepaid cards sold at retail locations, will provide reloading services for the Wal-Mart MoneyCard, according to a Web site advertising the card.

A cardholder agreement posted recently on Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s site says customers will be able to get a temporary card at a Wal-Mart store and load it once through Green Dot's network. Later in the mail, they will receive personalized cards, which will be reloadable at any of the retail stores (including Wal-Mart's) that participate in the Green Dot network.

The cards also will be reloadable at Wal-Mart stores using PIN debit cards or payroll or government-issued checks, or by direct deposit from an employer.

Green Dot did not return calls by press time Thursday.

Wal-Mart has not announced the availability of the card, which General Electric Co.'s consumer finance unit will issue, but the plan to sell them has been reported in several newspapers.
