Guaranty, Humboldt In $7M Kansas Merger

Commercial Guaranty Bancshares of Shawnee Mission, Kan., last week agreed to merge with $60 million-asset Humboldt (Kan.) Bancshares in a cash and stock deal worth $7 million.

Commercial Guaranty, the $43 million-asset parent of First Commercial Bank of Overland Park, would assume $2.1 million of Humboldt's debt.

Thomas Bishop, chairman and chief executive officer of Commercial Guaranty, said the merger would boost First Commercial's presence in Chanut, Humboldt, Iola, and Overland Park and increase its lending capabilities.
