HF Bancorp Names Executive

HF Bancorp, Hemet, Calif., has hired Richard S. Cupp as president and chief executive officer.

He will hold the same titles at its principal subsidiary, Hemet Federal Savings and Loan Association, and be a director of both.

Mr. Cupp was president and chief executive of Ventura County National Bancorp until earlier this year, when City National Bank acquired it.

Before joining City National in 1993 he was an executive vice president at California Federal Bank.

J. Robert Eichinger, chairman of HF Bancorp and Hemet Federal, is expected to retire Aug. 31; no successor has been announced. Mr. Eichinger joined the bank in 1980 as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

George P. Rutland, former chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Hartford, Conn.-based Northeast Savings Bank, was recently elected a director of HF Bancorp and its bank. Mr. Rutland retired in 1994.
