Hobart to Head Mercantile's Joplin Unit as Gilb Goes to Ark.

Richard B. Hobart has been elected chairman, president, and chief executive of Mercantile Bancorp.'s Joplin, Mo., subsidiary.

Mr. Hobart succeeds Larry L. Gilb, who has been appointed president and CEO of another subsidiary, Twin City Bank, Arkansas.

Mr. Hobart joined St.-Louis based Mercantile in September 1994 as senior vice president, community bank administration. In this position, Mr. Hobart provided assistance to senior management of Mercantile's family of more than 50 locally managed community banks.

Before joining Mercantile, Mr. Hobart served for 11 years as chairman, president, and chief executive of National City Bank of Southern Indiana, New Albany. Prior to that, he was senior vice president and head of retail banking at United Kentucky Bank and area director for New York State Citibank.
