In Brief: 2 Indexes Started At Housing Office

WASHINGTON - The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight released two new housing appreciation indexes last week with its quarterly House Price Index, focusing on housing trends in urban and rural areas.

Along with the quarterly index, the office will publish a Metropolitan Statistical Area Price Index every quarter and a Rural Price Index, which the regulator said "will be produced periodically."

The House Price Index tracks average house price changes in repeat sales or refinancing on the same single-family properties.
