In Brief: 2d-Oldest U.S. Thrift Adopts Albank Name

ALBANY, N.Y. - Albank Financial Corp. has changed the name of its subsidiary, Albany Savings Bank, to Albank.

The change coincides with observance of its 175th anniversary. The thrift, established in March 1820, is the second-oldest in the nation. (Institute for Savings opened its doors in Newburyport, Mass., two months earlier.)

Albank will hold an anniversary dinner Saturday with Lou Holtz, head football coach at the University of Notre Dame, as guest speaker.
