In brief: 4% Rise Seen for '96 In Construction Contracts

LEXINGTON, Mass. - New construction contracts are expected to increase 4% in 1996, to $311.1 billion, according to the Construction Information Group of McGraw Hill Co.

In addition, single-family housing construction is expected to increase 7%, to $116.9 billion.

Falling interest rates are the main reason contracts will rise, said Ralph Gentile, senior economist for the group.
