In Brief: 6 More from Lehman Join Deutsche Banc

NEW YORK — Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown hired six more technology investment bankers away from Lehman Brothers, bringing the number of defections from its rival last week to 13.

Deutsche Bank AG has been trying to build its investment banking capabilities in the United States, particularly in services for technology and communications companies. It got a boost last year when it bought Bankers Trust Corp., inheriting with it the technology underwriting and advisory boutique firm Alex. Brown.

Two senior executives from Lehman’s technology mergers-and-acquisitions advisory practice joined Deutsche Banc early last week — Robert Thornton, a managing director, and Tom Snef, a director. They brought with them two vice presidents and three associates.

On Friday, another four technology M&A associates and two analysts left Lehman to join the Deutsche Banc group, which has set up shop in San Francisco.
