In Brief: Ahmanson Tech Chief Named Executive VP

IRWINDALE, Calif. - H.F. Ahmanson & Co. has promoted its technology chief, E. Nancy Markle, to the post of executive vice president.

Ms. Markle joined the $53 billion-asset company last July as director of information services. She has more than 25 years' experience in systems management and technology, including stints at the Federal Nation Mortgage Association and Arthur Young & Co.

She was also named executive vice president of Ahmanson's main subsidiary, Home Savings of America, the largest savings institution in the United States.

In a prepared statement, Charles R. Rinehard, chairman and chief executive of both Ahmanson and Home Savings, praised Ms. Markle. "Her broad knowledge of the information technology industry and strong leadership are tremendous assets in our company's evolution into a full service consumer bank."
