In Brief: Allstate.com Named Best Insurance Site

NEW YORK — Allstate.com is the Web site that offers the best “insurance experience,” according to eMarketer, an Internet research firm, that recently released its list of top insurance company Web sites.

The marketing firm reviewed 90 insurance sites before picking Northbrook, Ill.-based Allstate. com as No. 1, saying that it offered easy claim reporting and payment options online and a separate center for existing customers.

The Web site also has large graphics and easy-to-understand information in English and Spanish, said the review, which was released Friday.

MetLife.com finished in the top spot last year and came in second this year. Its site is appealing, has solid layout, and is understandable, according to Jonathan Jackson, a senior analyst at eMarketer.

The MetLife site does a good job “explaining in laymen’s terms the different life insurance policies they offer,” Mr. Jackson said. “They also have some helpful noninsurance aspects to their site. For instance, if you put in the size of your room in your house, it’ll tell you how much paint to buy. It’s a good experience.”

New York-based Guardian Life Insurance Company of America’s site, theguardian.com; New York Life’s newyorklife. com; and Chubb Group’s site, chubb.com, based in Warren, N.J., rounded out the report’s top 5.
