In Brief: Ameritrade Offers Web Fund Research

OMAHA — Ameritrade Holding Corp. has announced it added a mutual fund research feature to its Web site.

The feature, which was started this month but not publicized, lets clients download prospectuses and screen funds according to such criteria as type, family, and performance during various periods.

Ameritrade, which sells about 10,000 funds through its supermarket, previously offered links to the sites of the Chicago fund tracker Morningstar Inc. and other third parties, but “the mutual fund information was basic,” a spokeswoman said last week.

She said the company will add more features in a few months but declined to give details.
