ORANGEBURG, N.Y. — The New York State Banking Department on Wednesday issued a notice of hearing for license revocation to Anvil Mortgage Ltd. on six charges of “routine deceptive acts and practices.”

A hearing is to be held at the department this month to determine whether Anvil Mortgage should have its license revoked or face other penalties, such as fines.

“Gov. George Pataki has led the charge to end abusive lending practices in New York State,” a department spokeswoman said. “Today’s notice sends a very strong and clear message to the mortgage banking industry. We will not tolerate abusive or deceptive lending practices.”
