In Brief: Arthur Levitt Jr. Back with M&T

BUFFALO - M&T Bank Corp. said Monday that Arthur Levitt Jr. has rejoined its board as an advisory director.

Mr. Levitt, 70, had originally joined the board of the $31 billion-asset bank holding company in December 1987, when it merged with East New York Savings Bank; he had been a trustee of East New York.

He left the board in July 1993, when then-President Clinton appointed him chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He completed his term at the SEC in February.
