In Brief: Avolent Launches B-to-B Bill Service

SAN FRANCISCO - Just In Time Solutions Inc. has renamed itself Avolent Inc. and will start providing business-to-business electronic bill presentment and payment today.

Wells Fargo & Co., which has been testing the service, named BizCast, and will be among the first companies using it to let corporate customers present their bills online.

Just In Time said it has signed up another user, but would not disclose its name.

Twelve billion business-to-business invoices are sent annually, according to the Gartner Group. But until recently banks and technology companies were so focused on the consumer side of electronic billing that little attention was paid to the business-to-business side.

BizCast will help employees at both ends of a business transaction sort invoice data and customize the way they view it, said Greg Swand, director of business-to-business at Avolent.

The company's new name, from the French word for "to fly," better reflects its goals, said Darryl R. Dobin, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "The electronic bill payment and presentment space is taking off," he said.

There is a kite on the company's new logo.
