In Brief: B of A Picks a Fixed-Income Trading Chief

BankAmerica Corp. has named a fixed-income trading chief in London to help it prepare for Europe's single currency, a spokeswoman said.

Claudio Zampa has relocated to London from Italy, where he was BankAmerica's country treasurer and capital markets head. In London, he will report to David Blatchford, executive vice president and head of global capital markets for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Mr. Zampa will be hiring to expand the bank's trading in government and nongovernment bonds, interest rate swaps, forwards, options, repurchase agreements, and money markets, a spokeswoman said. He will also be responsible for market making, proprietary trading, and research, she said.
