In Brief: Bank Investor Joins Board of Web Venture

Bank investor John M. Eggemeyer 3d was elected to the board of San Francisco-based Offroad Capital, a new on-line venture that pairs private investors with emerging technology companies seeking financing.

Stephen Pelletier, chief executive officer of Offroad Capital, said Mr. Eggemeyer was selected because of his contacts with other high-net-worth individuals and his large investment in the firm.

Mr. Eggemeyer, co-founder and chief executive of Castle Creek Capital, a La Jolla, Calif., investment fund, made news in banking circles this year when he engineered the $958 million sale of Western Bancorp in Newport Beach, Calif., to U.S. Bancorp of Minneapolis.
