CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bank of America Corp. has appointed Simon Winfield to head its equity sales in Europe as part of an effort to expand there.
Mr. Winfield is to join Bank of America in TK from a similar job at Credit Suisse First Boston and reports to Stephen Kendall, Bank of America's London-based head of European equities. Mr. Winfield is to be responsible for building a sales team and developing business among institutional investors.
The company said its European equities operation now employs more than 100 people, including sales and research people. It has begun producing research in seven target areas: financial services, telecommunications, media, technology, pharmaceuticals, energy, and aerospace and defense.
"We see considerable opportunities for a new entrant of our scale in Europe, given the recent consolidation in investment banking," Mr. Kendall said in a press release.
