In Brief: Banker Group Asks OMB to Review Regs

WASHINGTON — America’s Community Bankers is urging the Office of Management and Budget to take a look at several new and pending regulations that it says burden institutions insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

Included on the trade group’s list are the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act and the Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act.

In a letter to incoming Office of Management and Budget Director Mitchell E. Daniels Jr., Diane M. Casey, president and chief executive of the bankers group, writes of the regulators: “We believe that the agencies have not shown that the burden imposed by compliance with these regulations is outweighed by the benefit derived by their adoption.
