WINCHESTER, Va. BB&T Corp. of Winston-Salem, N.C., has announced that F. Dixon Whitworth Jr., an executive vice president of F&M National Corp., will become president of BB&Ts Blue Ridge community bank region, which will be created once it buys F&M.
Mr. Whitworth has been an executive vice president of F&M, of Winchester, since 1985 and chairman of F&M Trust Co. since 1998.
BB&Ts acquisition of F&M, announced in January, is subject to approval from F&M shareholders and regulators and is expected to close in the third quarter.
