RALEIGH, N.C. BB&T Insurance Services announced Friday that it has agreed to buy Stephens & Company Insurance Services Inc. of Kennesaw, Ga.
No price was given for the deal, which is expected to close in April and would give BB&T Insurance Services five Atlanta-area agencies. The others are in Alpharetta, Thomaston, Macon, and Dalton.
The Stephens management team is to stay on at BB&T-Stephens & Co.
BB&T Insurance Services, a subsidiary of $60.9 billion-asset Branch Banking and Trust Company, operates 63 agencies.
Branch Banking and Trust is the principal subsidiary of Winston-Salem, N.C.-based BB&T Corp.
