MENLO PARK, Calif. — Broadbase Software Inc. released survey results Monday showing how far online banking has come — or has to go — in the United Kingdom.

Of 2,000 consumers between the ages of 16 and 64 who took part in the survey, 17% said they bank online. Of those, 29% said the service was excellent and 47% said it was average.

Twenty-four percent said they wanted more personalized service, and the respondents generally said they were just as likely to communicate with their bank by phone as by e-mail. Broadbase, a banking software company, commissioned the survey from Omnibus.
