Chase Manhattan Corp. has named Thomas Walker head of the bank's European acquisition unit for global leverage finance.

Mr. Walker will be responsible for providing financing and advisory services to leveraged-buyout firms, Chase said in a release. He will coordinate with other units of the bank, including syndicated lending, high-yield corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Walker joined Chase in 1994 to help establish a high-yield finance business. Before joining Chase, he worked at Credit Suisse First Boston and Drexel Burnham Lambert.
