NEW YORK - Chase Manhattan Corp. has introduced a reloadable prepaid card that its debit and credit card customers can order and use as gifts.
The Chase Gift Card is one of the first reloadable prepaid cards offered by a major credit card issuer, the company said.
It can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted and comes in styles for a variety of occasions, including graduations, birthdays, weddings, and births.
"Our credit and debit card customers told us that they would find this alternative to gift certificates a convenient way to enhance the gift-giving experience," said Steven J. Kietz, senior vice president of sales and marketing services for Chase's credit card business.
The card is available in denominations from $25 to $1,000 and can be replenished with Chase debit and credit cards. The service charge ranges from $5.95 to $9.95, depending on the denomination.
