In Brief: Chase Trust Unit Adds Escrow Service

NEW YORK - A new Web service from Chase Manhattan Bank lets attorneys and others download escrow documents.

The Electronic Escrow Encyclopedia is offered at a new site, ChaseEscrow.com, developed by the bank's institutional trust division.

Users can download and customize documentation for mergers and acquisitions, litigation or arbitration awards, collateral accounts, debt repayments, and deposits, and can immediately initiate contact with a Chase representative.

"Escrow tends to be a key solution to what is typically a nagging, last-minute problem for many lawyers," said Jody Meth senior vice president of capital markets fiduciary services. "Now they can log on at 2 a.m. if they like and find the right document."
