In Brief: Chase Veteran to Run Sanwa Realty Finance

Sanwa Bank California has hired a former Chase Manhattan Corp. executive for its real estate finance business.

Patrick J. McNicholas, 48, will serve as vice president for credit and administration in Sanwa's real estate industries division.

Mr. McNicholas, based in the bank's Los Angeles headquarters, will be responsible for real estate-related credit quality, portfolio management, loan structuring, distribution, and credit training. He will report to Robert Quinn, head of the real estate industries division.

Mr. McNicholas spent 24 years at Chase, where his most recent responsibilities included managing the bank's Los Angeles real estate division, with a focus on debt and equity placements, risk management, and advisory services.

He left Chase in 1995 for a job at Westbrook Capital, a Los Angeles- based investment banking firm specializing in real estate capital formation, acquisitions, and advisory services.

Mr. McNicholas said he plans to expand "the real estate finance capacity at Sanwa Bank and help strengthen it both from a real estate lending and credit stand point."

Sanwa Bank California is the U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sanwa Bank Ltd.
