In Brief: Credit Union Group Aids Web Lobbying

WASHINGTON - The Credit Union National Association on Tuesday unveiled a page on its Web site to help members quickly draft and file comment letters online.

The page, called Operation Comment, offers background information on regulatory proposals that are open for comment, as well as writing tips. Trade group executives said that it gives credit union officials, already recognized as effective lobbyists on Capitol Hill, a way to increase their influence on regulations.

"Your letters make the difference," Mary Dunn, the group's senior vice president for regulatory advocacy, said in a statement. "Operation Comment delivers to credit unions greater access to the regulatory process."

Ms. Dunn encouraged members to use the page to submit last-minute responses, due Thursday, to the National Credit Union Administration's proposal on incidental powers.
