Criimi Mae Inc. said it has formed a committee to evaluate proposals it has received from "major financial institutions" to buy equity stakes in the company.

The committee is composed of Criimi Mae's four outside directors and headed by Robert E. Woods, a managing director at Societe Generale.

The real estate investment trust filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last October.
