In Brief: CrossLand CEO in Line To Lead Lenders Group

Christopher J. Sumner, chief executive officer of CrossLand Mortgage Corp., is in line to be president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America in 1999.

The association set the stage for Mr. Sumner's promotion by announcing that he would serve as vice president in 1998.

Mr. Sumner would assume the presidency from Donald E. Lange, chief executive officer of Weyerhauser Mortgage Co., who is slated in 1998 to serve a one-year term.

The association, which represents mortgage lenders' interests, also named as its treasurer for 1998 Suzanne C. Samson, first vice president of Inland Mortgage Corp., Concord, Calif.
