NEW YORK Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, which next month is scheduled to complete its merger with Credit Suisse First Boston, said its chairman, John Chalsty, has decided to retire.
Mr. Chalsty plans to retain a role as a senior advisor to the Credit Suisse unit. He joined DLJ in 1969 as an oil analyst and, after being research director and head of investment banking, became chief executive officer in 1986 and chairman in 1997.
