NEW YORK — Dreyfus Corp. has filled two posts in marketing and sales and one in its equity research division.

Laura Mulhall, 39, a senior vice president and the director of the financial adviser division at OppenheimerFunds Inc. of New York, was hired to be an executive vice president and the head of Dreyfus’ independent financial planning sales division, effective last Tuesday.

She succeeds Randy Lierman, who was promoted to national sales manager in the broker-dealer division.

Also effective last Tuesday, Dreyfus hired Ursula C. Carty, 39, to be an executive vice president and the director of distribution marketing. She succeeds Noreen Ross, who was promoted to director of investor communication.

Ms. Carty was a vice president of product management and development in the asset management division of PaineWebber Inc., a New York unit of the Swiss banking company UBS AG.

Dreyfus also promoted Stephen Buell, 49, to director of equity research on Wednesday. He succeeded Pierre G. Trinque, who left to pursue other opportunities, a spokesman said.

Mr. Buell had been an equity research analyst at Dreyfus since January 2000.

Dreyfus, the mutual fund arm of Mellon Financial Corp. of Pittsburgh, has about $150 billion of assets under management.
