In Brief: Fed: Credit Unions Lending’s ‘Good Guys’

WASHINGTON — Federal Reserve Board Governor Edward M. Gramlich singled out credit unions in a speech Monday for their work in fighting predatory lending.

Mr. Gramlich made it clear that he does not consider that credit union lenders engage in predatory practices. He called credit unions the “good guys” in the battle against abusive lending.

All financial institutions could do more to combat the problem by offering customers more education about the issue, Mr. Gramlich said.
