In Brief: First Financial of Ind. in Deal for Agency

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — First Financial Corp., the holding company for Terre Haute First National Bank, has agreed to buy Forrest Sherer Inc., a multiline insurance agency in Terre Haute.

Terms of the deal, which was announced Thursday, were not disclosed. It is expected to close in the second quarter, according to John Wepler, senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions at Marsh Berry & Co., a Concord, Ohio, consulting firm that specializes in bank acquisitions of independent insurance agencies. Marsh Berry was involved in the transaction.

The deal would be the first for an insurance agency by First Financial, which has assets of $2.043 billion.
