Corp., has hired Allstate Insurance Co. executive Maryann Bruce as president of its distribution arm.

Ms. Bruce will be president of Evergreen Distributors Inc., an Evergreen spokesman said. Ms. Bruce had been with Allstate since last October, when she joined to start a division aimed at selling insurance products through banks, brokerages, and financial planners.

The spokesman declined to say what Ms. Bruce's role will be with Evergreen. Ms. Bruce, reached at her home in Long Island, declined to comment. Prior to joining Allstate, Ms. Bruce spent several years in charge of distribution through banks for OppenheimerFunds, the New York-based mutual fund company.

She was credited with building Oppenheimer into one of the biggest fund sellers through banks.

The Evergreen Funds have almost $38 billion of assets under management in long-term mutual funds, according to Financial Research Corp. of Boston.
