In Brief: First Union Has E-Mail Series for Women

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - First Union Corp. has announced that it is now offering a free e-mail series that advises women on retirement issues.

The information is to be delivered online in five weekly e-mails, each covering an aspect of retirement planning - from the basics of a plan and tax considerations to asset allocation and working with a financial adviser.

"Women don't need different financial products and services than men do, but we can live very different lives that can dramatically affect our retirement and every other aspect of financial decision-making," said Debra Nichols, a senior vice president and the head of women's financial advisory services at First Union.

The series, available to customers and noncustomers, is the second e-mail program First Union has introduced targeting a specialized market. Last November it began a similar e-mail series for first-time homebuyers.
