In Brief: Flagship Chief Wins Award from the SBA

WORCESTER, Mass. - Flagship Bank and Trust Co. president and chief executive Donald J. McGowan received the Small Business Administration's national Financial Services Advocate of the Year award last week at a ceremony in Washington.

Mr. McGowan, whose bank is one of only five SBA preferred lenders in Massachusetts, was honored for the bank's SBA Express Loan Center, established in 1993 to quickly and cheaply guide small businesses through the loan process.

Flagship also saves its business customers up to $15,000 each by paying the 2% SBA guarantee fee for its loan recipients.
