In Brief: Fleet to Expand Use of EnAct Software

BOSTON — FleetBoston Financial Corp. said it would install Xchange Inc.’s EnAct software in the rest of its 1,200 retail branches.

The company already has installed EnAct in 900 of its branches.

The software lets branch employees access customer information, segment customers into specific groups with common characteristics for marketing purposes, and personalize offers.

“EnAct gives us a better way to combine and deploy the value of three of our most important assets — our customer base, our investment in customer information technology, and our front-line staff,” said Roy Lever, director of branch banking at Fleet.

Xchange, of Boston, has licensed EnAct to 50 other financial institutions throughout the world, including ABN Amro, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, HSBC Holdings PLC, and Wells Fargo & Co.
