In Brief: Former Cendant Exec Joins The Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. - David M. Johnson, the former chief financial officer of Cendant Corporation, has become the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Hartford Financial Services Group.

He joined the company May 1.

Mr. Johnson, 40, succeeded David K. Zwiener, who was appointed president and chief operating officer of The Hartford's property/casualty operations last year.

Mr. Johnson had been the chief financial officer and an executive vice president at Cendant, which he joined in April 1998.

Prior to that Mr. Johnson was a managing director in Merrill Lynch's investment banking division, where he worked with clients in a variety of sectors including insurance, airlines, and technology.

The Hartford, a provider of investment and insurance products, had revenues last year of $14.7 billion, and assets of $165.5 billion.
