In Brief: Friedman Report:<@SM> B-B Streamlining

ARLINGTON, Va. — A report from research and investment firm Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. Inc. predicts that business-to-business commerce will begin eliminating third-party vendors in the supply chain by building direct links to each other over the Internet. Online collaboration between businesses will become more efficient through new software that lets companies streamline their supply chains, the report says.

“The first generation of online business commerce centered around procurement and executing individual transactions and is not equipped to foster deep online commerce,” said David Hilal, senior Internet software analyst at the firm. “Real-time collaboration will be necessary for online business to achieve widespread market adoption.”
