In Brief: Gay Web Bank-Realty Journal Marketing Pact

PENSACOLA, Fla. — G&L Internet Bank and Gayhomes.com, an Internet real estate magazine, have agreed to a co-marketing and co-branding relationship.

The goal is to help gay and lesbian families use the Internet to find gay-friendly, nondiscriminatory communities where they can buy a home, send their children to school, and find full-service banking for mortgages, car, and business loans. In addition, G&L Bank has committed itself to be the exclusive real estate lender for 16 of the 49 communities that Gayhomes.com has identified as being gay-friendly; it has first right of refusal on the remaining 33.

Gayhomes.com, a division of USA New Homes Inc. of Palm Desert, Calif., helps potential homebuyers identify gay-friendly communities and tour new or used homes pictured on the Internet. The convenience, privacy, and ease of use have contributed to the site’s appeal, according to John DeLeo, president of Gayhomes.com.

Because G&L Bank takes extra steps regarding privacy and confidentiality to ensure its customers’ lives are protected, “G&L Bank has become a safe haven of sorts for gay and lesbian couples looking for home mortgages,” said Kim Schall, mortgage originator at G&L Bank. By working with Gayhomes.com, G&L Bank can “extend the level of personalized service from just the financial piece throughout the homebuying experience.”
