In Brief: Goldman Hires Syndicated Lending Exec

Goldman, Sachs & Co. bolstered its syndicated lending team this week, adding 12-year loan executive John Simonson.

Mr. Simonson was most recently a managing director of global loan syndications at Chase Manhattan Corp., where he reported to Peter Gleysteen, managing director and group head of global loan syndication. He joins Goldman as a vice president and will report to Edward C. Forst, managing director of bank debt capital markets.

Goldman began its syndicated loan business in 1990. It was exclusively a loan-trading shop. In 1994, the firm launched its originations team.
