In Brief: Great Western Booklets Win Consumer Award

An association of regulators overseeing consumer affairs honored Great Western Financial Corp. for two publications designed to educate customers about investing.

The brochures, which are available at Great Western branches, got the Consumer Education Award, which is given to financial services companies by the National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators.

In one brochure, "Risks & Rewards," Chatsworth, Calif.-based Great Western outlines the difference between traditional bank products and those that are not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

The other brochure getting the award was "Step Two," a primer on investing.
