In Brief: Hancock Life Opens Fourth China Office

SHANGHAI John Hancock Life Insurance Co. has started a company here with Tianan Insurance Co., the Boston companys fourth office in China.

John Hancock Tianan Life Insurance Co. is offering custom-designed whole life insurance, term life insurance, and fixed annuities for individuals and families, and plans to expand sales to other major Chinese cities.

A Web site for use by agents is slated to be launched next month, and the launch of a dedicated site for direct retail sales is to follow this year.

John Hancock Life Insurances other Chinese offices are in Beijing, Tianjin, and Guangzhou.
