RICHMOND, Va. Insurance broker Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton Co. announced Friday that it has bought substantially all the assets of Kelter-Thorner Inc., a full-service insurance agency in Redwood City, Calif. The price was not disclosed.
Hilb Rogal is an insurance broker with 70 offices in 17 states. It has a marketing alliance with Pittsburgh-based PNC Financial Services Group Inc. to sell commercial lines of insurance to PNC banking customers in several states, though not currently in California.
Kelter-Thorner, with about $3 million of annual revenue and 25 employees, offers a full range of traditional risk management, property and casualty, and employee benefits products, as well as specialty programs for the hospitality and poultry industries.
The agency will continue to operate in Redwood City as a branch office of Hilb Rogals California operation, Northern California Insurance Services Inc. It will be under the direction of Michael Janes, Hilb Rogans western regional director, and James Parrett, Northern California Insurance Services president.
