In Brief: HSBC Renames Republic Family of Funds

NEW YORK - HSBC Holdings PLC has changed the name of its Republic Funds to HSBC Investor Funds, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The Republic Funds, which had $4.4 billion of assets on July 14, were the proprietary mutual fund family of Republic New York Corp., which HSBC bought Dec. 31. The HSBC Funds managed $1.4 billion of assets on July 14.

A spokeswoman said that the two fund groups would probably be merged in September.
