ATLANTA - Payment processor First Data Corp. has allied itself with uc.com Ltd., a London business-to-business Internet company that will supply payment gateway services to First Data's financial institution and merchant customers outside North America.
SecureTrading Ltd., a uc.com subsidiary, is to be the international complement to SurePay, First Data's payment gateway for the United States. The SecureTrading gateway is to manage technology and operations for the service, and First Data is to sell and market the service to its clients.
The SecureTrading gateway supports 169 currencies and provides digital signatures for security. SecureTrading says it is one of the first companies to offer a functional online payments system for WAP, the wireless application protocol.
