In Brief: Manual on Uniform Performance Report

Banks will soon be receiving a new manual from the government to help them understand the uniform bank performance report.

"A User's Guide for the Uniform Bank Performance Report" explains how bankers should interpret the form, which provides data on how similarly sized banks performed financially during the past quarter. It will be sent to banks by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council by month's end, the agency said.

The manual describes how changes made recently to the call report - including a requirement that banks disclose data on short-term investments, assets and liabilities - will impact the report.
