In Brief: MBA Nominates Vice President

WASHINGTON — The Mortgage Bankers Association has nominated an Alabama banker as vice president, a stepping-stone to its presidency.

Robert M. Couch is president and chief executive officer of New South Federal Savings Bank in Irondale, Ala., and a managing director of Collateral Mortgage Ltd. He is already a director of the trade group and a member of its residential board of governors.

The nomination was announced Wednesday. Association members are to vote on it at the group’s annual convention in October.
