In Brief: Merrill Exec Expected to Lead Ameritrade

Bloomberg News

NEW YORK — Ameritrade Holding Corp., an online brokerage firm, is expected to name Joseph Moglia, a senior vice president in Merrill Lynch & Co.’s private client group, as its chief executive, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr. Moglia would take the job that was vacated in August when Tom Lewis resigned as the CEO of the Omaha firm. Since then the firm’s founder, J. Joe Ricketts, has served as CEO, but he told shareholders at the recent annual meeting that he is looking forward to handing over the job to someone else.

Mr. Moglia, a 17-year Merrill veteran, could not be reached for comment. Larry Marchese, an Ameritrade spokesman, declined to comment.
